World Oral Health Day is celebrated on March 20th every year to raise awareness about the importance of oral hygiene and oral health. As a childminder, I believe that it is essential to teach children about good oral hygiene practices and how they can take care of their teeth and gums.
Good oral hygiene practices are essential to maintaining healthy teeth and gums. Childminders can encourage children to brush their teeth at least twice a day, using a fluoride toothpaste, and to floss regularly. They can also teach children about the importance of limiting sugary foods and drinks, which can cause tooth decay and other oral health problems.
Plan activities that promote good oral hygiene practices. For example, encourage children to practice brushing and flossing with toy teeth and toothbrushes, or to play games that teach them about the importance of good oral hygiene. Teach children about the different foods and drinks that are good for their teeth and gums.
Furthermore, at Bunnikins I can help children to develop positive attitudes towards oral health by making it fun and enjoyable. I use songs, stories, and games to teach children about good oral hygiene practices, and to encourage them to take care of their teeth and gums. I praise and reward children for their efforts to maintain good oral hygiene practices, which can help to reinforce positive behaviours.
In summary, World Oral Health Day provides an excellent opportunity for to teach children about good oral hygiene practices and how they can take care of their teeth and gums. By encouraging children to brush and floss regularly, to limit sugary foods and drinks, and to develop positive attitudes towards oral health.
